Lip Lift.
A surgical lip lift is a procedure designed to enhance the shape and balance of the upper lip by shortening the space between the nose and the lip (the philtrum). This subtle adjustment lifts the upper lip into a more youthful, natural position, increasing tooth show and creating a fuller appearance without the need for fillers. The result is improved lip definition, better facial harmony, and a more refreshed, elegant smile. The procedure is performed with a small, well-concealed incision beneath the nose, allowing for precise, long-lasting results.

Permanent Lip Definition.
As the upper lip lengthens with age, tooth show fades and the vermillion rolls inward. A lip lift shortens the philtrum by a few carefully planned millimeters — Dr. Alexander Dane places the incision within the natural curvature of the nasal sill so the scar becomes nearly invisible, delivering a lasting result no syringe of filler can match.
Philtrum Shortening
Shortens the space between nose and lip to restore youthful proportion and better facial harmony.
Tooth Show
Restores the youthful amount of upper-tooth show at rest and when speaking.
Vermillion Show
Rolls the vermillion outward for a fuller, more defined upper lip without injectables.

Frequently Asked.
Is the scar visible?
The incision is hidden in the natural curvature where the nose meets the lip. Once fully healed — typically at 3–6 months — most patients find it very difficult to identify.
How is it different from lip filler?
Filler adds volume. A lip lift changes proportion by shortening the philtrum, increasing tooth show, and rolling the vermillion outward. The result looks natural and is permanent.
What is the recovery like?
Mild swelling for about a week and sutures removed at 5–7 days. Most patients return to social activity in about a week, with refined scar maturation continuing over several months.
Is it performed under general anesthesia?
No. The procedure is performed comfortably under local anesthesia in our South Tampa office.
